Unified Communications (UC) solutions have made it even easier and more convenient for companies to effectively connect with their employees regardless of where they are. Since there is a greater ability to connect mobile devices, host or be a part of a video conference, email, message, etc., Unified Communications allows in-office and remote workers to remain connected.

Unified Communications can impact a business in a variety of ways, including preserving mutual trust and camaraderie, allowing employees to maintain a balance when it comes to home life and work-life, and it allows employees to have access to the same technology and features other employees have access to. This article addresses how to pair remote work and unified communication to keep everyone connected and collaborating.

Remaining Connected

We understand that remote employees may have a feeling of uneasiness because they are spending a significant amount of time in their homes instead of in the office with their team members. We know that not being physically connected to team members can make one feel as if they are no longer a part of the team. However, UC solutions can be used to ensure remote workers never feel as if they are no longer a part of the team.

Voice calls and video calls will allow remote workers to see the faces of their team members, and this can result in improvements to collaboration. When team members can see each other face-to-face, it can ensure that communication is always accurate and effective. Unified Communications applications will make it easier to create a connected environment.

Creating a Balance

Every employee will have their own preferences when it comes to home life and work-life. For many employees, remote employment is one of those preferences. Many of today's employees firmly believe that working outside of the business will allow them to maintain the lifestyle they prefer. Remote working allows employees to balance their work needs and the personal needs they have.

When employees are able to find a balance between work and home, they are often more efficient and productive. When employees can work on assignments with someone who is on the other side of the map, they will always have access to valuable information. UC applications, especially mobile applications, can be used to create a flexible environment many employees desire.

Maintaining Efficiency

In the past, when employees were allowed to work from home for an extended period of time, they were not fully connected to those in the workplace. The telecom industry was once ruled by the traditional phone, and this resulted in many remote workers not being fully aware of everything that was taking place in the workplace. Those remote workers did not have access to the features and applications the other employees were using.

Today, remote workers are able to remain connected through UC applications and VoIP services. Today's remote employees have access to all the features their team members have access to, and they do not have to leave their homes to access those features. When everyone has the same level of access to in-office features, it creates a more productive, efficient, and effective workplace.

Cloud-based technology is ruling the Unified Communications world, and more advancements will be made. As more advancements take place, the abilities of remote workers will improve.
