Sprint and T-Mobile are two of the biggest cellular network operators in the country. At the time, the merger was valued at over $146 billion. Some of the main goals behind the idea of merging were the same as many other companies that decide to merge, such as improving operational efficiency and gaining more attention and expanding their reach.

The merger of T-Mobile and Sprint was also inspired by both sides being interested in exploring the 5G world at a faster pace than other companies. When the idea of the merger was brought to light, both sides believed that the merger would allow them to move past other well-known players in the cellular network industry, including AT&T and Verizon.

When the idea of 5G networking technology was introduced, it was not a known technology. As more talk began about 5G technology, more people wanted to find out what the technology was and what its capabilities would be. While many assumed that 5G would just be another step in wireless network technology, it has turned out to be much more than that. 5G technology will eventually make its way into a greater audience and it can change the entire technology landscape. One of the areas that may see the biggest impact of 5G technology is Unified Communications (UC).

5G's Impact On Businesses

5G will not only be beneficial to a consumer audience, but it will also be beneficial and extremely useful for businesses that are depending on Unified Communications. 4G and 4G LTE technologies offered some breathing room for businesses that wanted to connect with people in various places across the globe. However, the expectations of 5G technology aim to greatly increase the reach of businesses and organizations that want to maintain their global reach. With 5G technology, your business can have more opportunities to expand your audience and you will have consistent connectivity.

Increased Reliability

When we compare 4G and 5G technology, the speed on a 5G device can be up to 20 times faster than the speed on a 4G device. This increase in speed and the various data processing capabilities will allow your devices to process an incredible amount of data at lightning speed. Each year, we are introduced to communication and collaboration tools that can support our needs to seamlessly communicate on a consistent basis. We expect 5G technology to not only take broadband service to a different level but also support the latest and greatest collaboration tools and capabilities.

Remote Collaboration

5G technology has the ability to make it easier to connect mobile devices will make it possible to let go of the restrictions that some remote workers face when using Wi-Fi technologies or DSL connections. 5G will make it possible for remote workers to connect with people globally with no limits or restrictions. While audio and video conferencing continue to be used by many businesses and organizations across the globe, many businesses continue to look for more ways to collaborate and communicate.

4G has the ability to facility audio and video conferencing, but sometimes a congested network can make it impossible to have an effective conference. The expectations of 5G technology are that it will be able to make audio and video conferencing as smooth and pain-free as possible. Improvements to the quality of video and audio, in addition to the reduction of chances of disconnects and glitches, will greatly improve the way your business can communicate.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

Businesses that are looking for a cost-effective option that will allow them to connect to others via mobile phones will be able to consider mobile VoIP services. Mobile VoIP services can be used by businesses that want to streamline their entire operations and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their communication strategies. Mobile VoIP services will provide your business or organization with a variety of features that will make it easier to communicate remotely and on-premise.

Some of the features you can expect from mobile VoIP services include the following:

  • audio conferencing
  • video conferencing
  • ability to obtain access to extensions in the office

5G will improve mobile VoIP services because of its ability to provide the speed and connectivity capabilities that are needed. Since the speed of 5G can be 20 times faster than 4G speed, you can expect a connection that is more improved and reliable. We would not be surprised if there is a fast spike in the adoption of mobile VoIP services.

A Unified Communications(UC) transformation is certainly imminent and it is going to bring incredible changes to UC. What unified communication solution would work best for you and your organization? The answers might surprise you.
