5 Great UC Collaboration Features of Zoom Conferencing

Featured Image

Zoom-blog-photoZoom conferencing is a fantastic tool for video, audio, screen sharing, MP4 recording, but it also has some secrets you may not know about.

It’s like the hidden menu of Zoom, but instead of a double double animal style or a 4×4 (for those In-N-Out fans out there), we’re talking about video collaboration gems such as annotation and branding.

Here are the five best hidden-gem features you can wield while using Zoom Conferencing.

1. Personal Meeting ID (PMI)

Zoom gives you your very own personal meeting ID (PMI), a permanent virtual room that you can start anytime or schedule for future use. If you are on a paid Zoom plan, you can even customize this meeting ID to something easier for you to remember, such as your phone number.

2. Share a Video Clip with Audio

Zoom is the only video conferencing platform on which you can screen share a video clip with native audio. We know this sounds kind of crazy because why would you ever want to share video without audio, what kind of video meeting service would even build that? But it’s the truth: no one else can share both video and audio. All you have to do is:

  1. Select screen share on your PC or MAC
  2. Then select the desktop
  3. Click optimize for full-screen video clip (recommended)
  4. Click share screen
  5. Go full screen in your video clip (recommended)

3. Share Your Mobile Screen

Yet again, a unique Zoom feature. Zoom is the only video conferencing service that let’s you share your entire mobile screen, apps and all! This is massively useful for anyone who is working on an app, trying to demo an app, or who just wants to share any content they keep on their phone.

On your iPhone or iPad, you screen share using iOS mirroring. Join the Zoom meeting from your computer, then click Screen Share. Double click the iPhone/iPad option and follow the instructions provided to connect you (select the correct wireless network, choose Airplay, choose your device, and enable mirroring).

Android user? If you thought we forgot about you, don’t. We didn’t! Android screen sharing via Zoom couldn’t possibly be easier, simply click share + screen and done!

4. Incorporating Company Branding

This one isn’t for everyone, but it sure is cool! If you have an Business, Education, or API Zoom plan, you can score some sweet company branding in your Zoom meetings portal. Branding allows you to create a custom page so your company’s users can start or join a meeting via your vanity URL, such as https://yourcompany.zoom.us. You can also customize your email invitation template.

5. Co-Annotate and Remote Control

So you’ve shared your screen…now what? The collaboration fun doesn’t have to stop there. Once you’ve shared your screen, you and your fellow participants can co-annotate the shared feed, and you can give control over your screen to any given participant. With annotation, you can use arrows, lines, pen, highlighter, eraser, and more. The host can also lock annotations to prevent any inappropriate drawings your team may make on your presentation  With remote control, another user can (with your permission), take control of your desktop or a window, particularly useful for fields like tech support.
